The Rewards of Feng Shui Certification
Like many people, I walked into feng shui classes thinking that I was going to be getting some great advice on home decorating with a focus on home energetics and spacial awareness. I was, of course, quite wrong, and I'm so glad that was the case. I now have my feng shui certification in hand and I'm ready to use it! For the first several months after my feng shui training, I focused heavily on applying what I had learned to my own life. I worked with my home, my office and even my garden space, figuring out how I could apply everything I learned. I also found that I had some spaces that I needed to clear some stuck energy out of, and lo and behold, I was suddenly able to focus better and meet my goals more efficiently. I feel that it's very important to apply anything you learn to yourself first, especially when it is as beneficial as feng shui!
I can see feng shui training paying off in a wide variety of fields. For people in the business of life coaching and in helping people with their personal issues, I think that it is essential to take into account a person's home situation. After all, if something is holding them back in their own energy space, how can they move forward personally or in the rest of the lives? Setting goals is important, and having circumstances around you that support you in achieving them is pretty vital to that process.
I can also see a very clear connection to those in the industry of home building, design, or decoration. Historically speaking, feng shui was used for three purposes: home placement, agriculture, and the selection of burial sites. While we have turned it into a much more micro-managing design style today, those first uses cannot be eschewed. Everything from the placement of a home on the land, to where doors and windows are placed, can be an essential part of the process. Then, of course, you must turn to the interior. This is where interior designers can really boost their satisfaction ratings by creating rooms through which energy flows harmoniously while also creating an aesthetically beautiful and functional home.
I would also recommend that anyone who takes feng shui classes acquaint themselves with the history of this practice. Today, there is a very interesting situation in China in regards to practicing feng shui. During the Cultural Revolution, many of the traditions of the Chinese were considered feudalistic, superstitious and outdated. Under the People's Republic of China, feng shui has been denounced and even banned on several occassions. While many feel that traditional beliefs and practices are becoming more popular and are being more openly acknowledged, the fact of the matter is that many of the youth in China today do not hold the views of their ancestors. Preserving this knowledge is, I think, a very important and desirable action on the parts of people of all cultures.
