Newer Materials and Easier Installation are Behind the Recent Boom in Inground Pools

Amanda Tipps

One recent phenomena to appear on the Internet is prefabricated inground pool manufacturers and distributors with advertisements claiming that a homeowner can now install their pool themselves. Is this true? Will someone that actually takes them up on their offer be left with an unfinished disaster in their backyard? Or is it really feasible that "Johnny Homeowner" can really pull something like this off on their weekends.

The answer to all of the above questions is both yes and no. This is because, while it can be done and is done very day by homeowners, it is by no means a simple task. Also, it does require more than one person to complete the task. To begin with, the in ground pool itself has to be excavated, which usually means hiring a heavy equipment operator to do the job with a backhoe.

Even then, you can rest assured that there will be plenty of work to be done with a "pick and shovel" to "tune" the hole up after the backhoe guy has left. The rest of the work that is required to install one of todays in ground pools is not that complicated and if you can read and follow instructions you and your friends or family can do it.

It is now possible to purchase a complete inground pool kit online. Also, all of the hardware and accessories can be purchased online as well. This includes the pump, filter automatic pool cleaner and even the pool toys for the kids. So, needless to say, that end of it is so much easier than it was in years past, when homeowners had to rely on the local shady pool contractor.

This is why more and more families all over the planet are now converting their backyards into aquatic playgrounds for their kids and all of their friends to spend their summer days off in. While it is a relativly big job, it can be done if you are up to the challenge.
