NY Empire State Index
The NY Empire State Index, which is a monthly survey of manufacturers in New York State. Across the state participants represent a variety of industries. The NY Fed reserve conducts the survey each month and the same pool of estimated 175 industrial executives (usually the CEO or the president) is sent a questionnaire to report the difference in a changing assortment of criteria from the previous month.
Survey participants also give views about the supposed
direction of these same indicators six months from now. This report is
seasonally adjusted using the Philadelphia Fed's seasonal factors because
the history of this report isn't long enough: the collected data only goes
back a couple of years.
