Before you apply to any colleges look at
all the schools what they have to offer you. You will want to do this all
over again once you have been accepted at these schools. There is federal
aid for you to apply for and there is state aid for you to apply for. All
of this aid can go a long way towards getting you though college
successfully. The following is a list of some of
the different types of aid that you may be eligible for: Merit scholarships are what you want to go for if you
can. To get these scholarships you are gong to have to be a gifted
student, either in sports or academics or art. This scholarship will take
care of all your college costs, all of them. Once you get these types of
scholarships you will then have to work to keep them. You will have to
keep performing as expected or this could get pulled right out from under
you. Not all schools offer these so keep a lookout. This could be your
ticket to college for free.
Money by major is another great way
to go. You can get scholarships or grants for certain fields. This is to
boost the enrollment in these programs. Some of these programs are need
based while others are merit based it all depends on the
program. Work study is a great way to earn
your way through your college education. With these programs you will have
to work to stay in school, literally. This job could be on campus or off
campus, depending on the school. And you may or may not have to stay at
the same job all semester or even the whole year. A variation on the work study
program is on campus employment. This is not formal like work study and
the money that is earned does not have to be used for college, it can be
used for anything at all. If this type of job interest you talk to your
financial aid office, they may be ale to help you set something
up. If you are having trouble coming up
with the cost of tuition all in one fell swoop then ask about monthly
payment options. This can make the cost of tuition much easier to deal
with for you or your family. You might even be able to get away without
paying any interest on these types of plans. Block tuition rates will be able to
cover a few different credits. Class time incentives are a
wonderful way for you to save money on classes. If you agree to take
classes at the slow times of the day, when the classes are not full anyway
you can get away with paying way less for them. Your schedule might not be
very fun, but if it saves hundreds or thousands of dollars who
cares? If you want to make sure that you
can get the financial aid that you need then you need to know what schools
you have the best chance of getting it at. It is a balancing act because
while bigger schools have more money, smaller schools are willing to give
more to promising students as an incentive to get them in the
doors. No matter what school you want to go to, if you want
financial aid there are some guidelines that you need to follow. For
instance you have to fill out your FAFSA form and perhaps even
a Profile form and even the schools own financial aid forms. These last
forms probably came with the admissions forms. You should also get your
admissions forms in as soon as possible, this way you have more chances of
getting accepted. You may be able to bargain for a
better aid package but if you don’t have the need then this may be a moot
point since so much aid is given on a need basis. On the other hand a good
way to up the aid at one school is to show them how much was offered from
another. These colleges are highly competitive and if they think they are
going to lose a good student they will do more to keep them. Even still
less than 2 percent of all schools will work to adjust any financial aid
packages, so don’t get your hopes up on this
score. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
